About
Andreas Nef
Andreas has worked the past twenty years in various roles in the larger field of archives and digital preservation. As Technical Lead/CTO and together with his former colleagues, he has built strategies, developed tools and created solutions for managing and preserving digital records.
Apart from inhouse solutions, it has always been an important part to (re-)use and integrate with existing solutions, preferrably open source. Being part of the larger community and sharing knowledge is important, for example as a member of the METS Editorial Board.
Almost as long-lasting is his involvement in the context of archives and human rights. Originally seconded to the Special Court for Sierra Leone, the engagement for archives at risk and ensuring preservation of important records in critical situations has become a core competence. This is often done in collaboration with Swisspeace as an Associated Expert, or also as expert for Justice Rapid Response. He contributes also as executive member of the ICA's Section on Archives and Human Rights.
